In May 2004 Tony Norgan, Keith Hoskins and Steve Dyer walked the 180 miles from the fabled source of the Thames to the iconic Barrier at Woolwich Reach in aid of Prostate Cancer and the new Hitchin Town Centre Initiative
Supported by members of the club, local businesses and individuals sponsoring the walk or bridges along the way; or joining the team for part of the walk and raising money on their own the trio raised £22k shared between the two charities.
The trio were tracked along the Thames by a team of helpers and baggage carriers in boats hired for the purpose.
The team covered the distance in 11 days with just one day of rest. A commendable average of 18 miles a day not including diversions and detours.
